As a specialist caterer we at Hog Roast Broad Haven often get questions on why it is we came to the time-honoured tradition of hog roasting for events specifically. Of course we think it is a no-brainer to have hog roast dining for events since it provides both excellent spectacle and great tastes, but it is still a fair question to have. Certainly there are far easier dishes to make for events, or it may be simpler to be a more generic caterer offering more common foods, but as an event caterer generic and common just do not cut it for us. We instead see event dining as exactly that, an event. At Hog Roast Broad Haven we believe that is our duty to provide the type of dining experience that guests could only get at something that could reasonably be called an event. The dining, for us, is as much a part of making the day an event as everything else in the day, and so it has to be special and stylish.
That is what the hog roast provides for us.
Now while of course there is certainly other foods that could also create an event out of the event dining experience too, the hog roast for us just has that simple yet elegant brilliance that makes it perfect. Why we love the hog roast specifically is a question with many answers. For one, the hog roast itself is already a rich part of any event tradition. It is a dish and a culinary style that has a long history with cultural celebrations, community traditions, and rich events all across the world. Many cultures have taken to the hog roast for events on account of the style and spectacle it has in cooking, and the quality in quantity it provides. It might well have been enough to feed a whole king’s court after a battle, or a small village for an evening.
Now in modern times the traditional look of the hog roast is seldom seen, which is another reason we have taken to it. It allows us to bring guests a unique dining experience for their events. As stated, that is always our goal at Hog Roast Broad Haven, so if we can do it with a dish as tasty as this too then we’re of course going to stick by it!
